A benchmark traditionalist estate from Castelnuovo dell'Abate, revered for Brunello of extraordinary depth, purity, and age-worthiness

2019 Brunello di Montalcino DOCG - Poggio di Sotto

The 2019 Brunello di Montalcino from Poggio di Sotto, produced in Castelnuovo dell'Abate, Tuscany, is a pure Sangiovese that reflects the excellence of the terroir. The grapes come from vineyards located between 200 and 450 meters above sea level, on gravelly soils. Vinification takes place in truncated cone-shaped wooden vats with spontaneous fermentation and long maceration. Aged in 30-hectoliter Slavonian oak barrels for at least 48 months, followed by further bottle aging. On the nose, it offers notes of ripe red fruit, sweet spices, and balsamic hints. On the palate, it is elegant, with well-integrated tannins and a harmonious structure, resulting in a wine of great balance and longevity. This vintage is prized for its harmony and depth, and represents one of the most refined expressions of Tuscan Sangiovese.
